Birthdays are all about the fun...or so some people claim. Friends and family come together to celebrate you. However sometimes there isn't anybody close by that celebrates you and all the Facebook posts in the world cannot erase the aging process. Time marches on, no matter how you beg it to slow down. Before you know it, you've blinked and half your life is gone. What have you done? Have you made a difference? If God calls you home tomorrow, would anyone even miss you? This new year, there are so many things I'd like to get done. Travel. Books. Design...but more than those things I want my time here on earth to have meaning.

It's a new year and I have big plans...most of which I'm not ready to talk about. I've taken some time to decompress (as I do yearly). I do nothing during this time and I do mean NOTHING. I run hard during the year and by December I'm in full burn out mode. January is my birthday month (G.O.A.T. season) and it's the best time for reassessing my life's goals.

t's January 2, 2017 and it raining outside...a great day to stay in with a calendar, notebook and a good writing pen to start setting some goals for the New Year. I've found that goals don't have to be dramatic, monumental or gigantic. This is when the K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid) rule comes into play. Keeping in mind that small steps get you to the same distination that large steps do. It could be cutting back on caffeine or making more time for family or having a weekly date with the love of your life. This year let us strive to be the way, the truth and the light instead of the detour, the lie and the darkness. Give more and watch God supply your every need. Turn your worry into worship and watch God turn your battles into blessings. Whatever your plan and/or goals for 2017, I pray God's speed and protection, good health, favor and prosperity to you! HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE BLUE SHOE CREW!!!
